How much do you like System 7.0.1? Networking 9 posts Aug 24, 2009 — Aug 26, 2009
On a scale of 1-10.

I personally prefer to use 7.1 on my machines, since its a tad more up to date, but there's really nothing wrong with 7.01.

I give it 9/10 only because I prefer the fonts folder in 7.1 (as opposed to bloated system files filled with fonts on 7.0.1 and earlier, not to mention the speed of opening a system suitcase on any version of System 7). I would have docked it another point due to the bugs that exist without the tune-up, but give it a point back because Apple offers it free of charge on their site, something which cannot be said about System 7.1.

7.1 is on the legacy CD.

I bought 7 when it first came out and despite coming with no applications it felt like it could do everything. Inside Mac VI was a tome and a half.

7.0.1 was NEVER even considered as an option for any of my Macs.

That said: 7.0.1* rockedn-n-rolled on for freakin'ever in my shop!

<"mutters" under his breath because he can't find the bleepin' tune-up bullet on his POS WinBlows oriented KBD!>

jt :-x

System 7.0.1 is great for those slower 8 MHz 68000 Macs, but if you want to do some serious networking business (e.g. OpenTransport, MacIP routing), then you'll need to have at least System 7.1. I therefore have to system System 7.0.1 a grade of 7 (how appropriate).

You have to love System 7.0.x at least a little because it is what got all of those developers writing the apps that run so well on System 7.1.

dont like it at all if i must use classic id use 8 or 9

7.5.5 if i have to use 7
