Make all the fun at that card as you want, I went waaaaay out of my way to get a better one, but then I couldn't find drivers for it! Apple has sole rights to them and apparently they're not coughing them up . . . the pikers! So that sucker never put out more than 640 x 480!
I put the Rage 128 back in and started fiddling around in the monitors control panel to find something that looked good letterboxed on my 22" 1080p monitor. I was VERY surprised to see any 1080p setting at all, but at 75 Hz it wouldn't sync with my HP LCD.
But guess what! After I flipped on the unrecommended resolutions . . . THERE IT WAS! I'm now using that sad ati rage 128 to drive the LCD at its native resolution at 60 HZ/ millions!
