Nope, different pincount, but that doesn't mean they didn't leave room for "more" or "different" VRAM in case the newer ICs weren't shipping in time, or in enough quantity/correct price point, by the time the DDII hit production.
What might be more relevant would be to check the Video Controller IC on the DDII against machines with the same Controller and maybe higher limits of addressable VRAM?
IIRC, that might have been DuoMauler's point in replacing the 2300c's VidChip with a later one . . . or not! [
