I thought you had a Mac OS X box in between?

User -> Mac Terminal -> Serial Port -> cable -> RS232toUSB -> USB port -> getty -> login -> bash -> mail -> SMTP -> TCP/IP -> ethernet -> ADSL -> cable -> provider -> internet
