Running OS X 10.4.11 for now, haven't got around to installing OS 9. Downside of using OS 9 is that my wi-fi network is inaccessible since I use WPA security. I'll find a work-around for this later on.

If you do find some kind of workaround for this, please do share! I'd be really interested in the solution for this both in OS 9 and very early versions of X.

Unfortunately my work-around is likely going to be daisy-chaining bits of my home network - though it's going to have to wait until I move to my new place. I swapped out my Linksys router for a dual-band 1TB Time Capsule - and the TCs don't support WEP. Prior to the TC, I was using WEP + MAC address filtering which worked great.
