iBook Clamshell Issues Troubleshooting 3 posts Dec 12, 2009 — Dec 14, 2009
Earlier tonight I picked up a cheap iBook clamshell for $20. Unfortunately it is barebones at 32mb/3GB/CD @ 300mhz.

It has the following problems:

- It boots after being unplugged for a while but a restart will hang at a blank screen.

- It refuses to boot from a CD with the same blank screen

- Internal Keyboard does not work, USB keyboard has to be plugged in AFTER the screen is lit. The internal keyboard has a light turn on and off while the iBook is on.

- Internal RAM slot is not accepting any memory and there is an error when checking the memory

It works otherwise but these problems are a bit too much. I suspect a logic board issue. Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

Ya I would bet almost anything the logicboard is fried. Unfortunately about the only solution is to replace it with another. Hold onto it as a parts unit or sell it off.

You can get one Here at this site if you are looking to get a new one, also you will need tortx drivers (to open it up)

this site is good from what i have heard http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/
