My current sig isn't too long, is it? IIRC, someone said "more than 3 or 4 lines is probebly too much" and it's about 4 lines of size=100 text, so just checking before someone bites my head off for having "too long of a signiture"

I really do not think the line seperations are necessary. And the poll options are too spaced apart.

It didn't make any sense without the line seperation after I modified it. And the " - " takes up 3 characters that could be used for other stuff.

There. I added a link to my user page so later I can add stuff to said user page.

Guess I'll keep my sig like that till I get a new machine. Then I wikk put my main machines and put below that my other machines as a link.

Personaly, I don't think BBCode tags should count though. It actually takes up MORE space to make my sig SMALLER

And How did you link in your sig? I thought that was removed.

Its better than it was, but really, I second Mars478's suggestion to put all your systems in one or two lines, like he has. There's no real reason for them to all be on a separate line.

So drop the redundant cruft:

Nicknames (because no-one cares)

"Summer 2000" (doesn't tell us much; instead ie "DV400")

"Now devoted to" and "the" (and "!" :

)

"Macintosh" (we know who made the LCIII, ta)

"My 68kMLA wiki" ("User Page" is enough)

"68k Macs Liberated: 1 " (we can already see that)

and

"Compaq". (Preferably off a cliff)

What if you made it so that your signature had just three lines.

Code:

Line 1: a system or gadget that you want to feature that week. your newest, one you've been using a lot, or just something you pulled out of the closet and found interesting that week.
Line 2: a quote or project or other tidbit that you might want to share. Something like copy bunny but MUCH shorter.
Line 3: a link to your user page, where all of your systems and projects and things might be listed permanently.

That or do the cool thing and go without a signature. All of the cool kids are doing it these days.

I'm the type of person who thinks that a 2 line signature is more than too much. But it doesn't really matter on this forum anymore: if you don't like long signatures you can simply turn them off. (Same for avatars of questionable taste.)

There's nothing wrong with a 2-liner. I wouldn't go any further than a 3 though. I cut mine down as such and it seems to work fine.

Because I had my first experience with remote transmission about twenty years ago, using a modem to connect to simple mailboxes, I value the bandwidth (as anyone of us appreciates a snappy internet connection). Even in case you have many of kilobytes per second at hand, you might disapprove of orderly waste of transmission capacity.
