Hello, everyone!

Just a friendly note to send to all of you whom own a Macintosh with PCI expansion bus. Just this past week, I've found that all the bus slots on my Power Mac 7500 suddenly stopped working. I couldn't recognize ANY cards that I plugged in when I knew they worked in the past. It turned out that each of the port's pins that are normally soldered to the logic board have suddenly come loose; luckily they didn't take the pads or traces with it.

What I am suggesting is that if you own any PCI-based Macs, please double-check to make sure that the ports are secured to their location on the logic board and/or riser cards. On mine, the solder joints turned out to be cold and I needed to redo the soldering job for all those ports. So, if you have a soldering iron and have the confidence to do so, please take the time this upcoming year to complete this major problem. In a way, this is almost a PSA to you all for what could have been a huge defect.

Thank you for reading and have a safe yet Happy New Year; see you in 2010!
