There were indeed two different Classic II cases, the difference between them being the speaker location. Whether there was a corresponding change in the logic board configuration I do not know.

I have 4 Classic II's. Only difference I can see is one did not have holes for the sound to pass through. Where was the speaker located in the one you refer to?
