Also I tried installing Mac OS 8.1 today, wouldnt install, it said to read the manual. I'm thinking the 8mb isn't enough for Mac OS 8.1 :?:

Considering the 550 is a 68030 which only supports 7.6.1 max, I'm not surprised.

If you want to try it, you'll need to follow these instructions.

And yes, 8.1 requires a minimum of 12MB RAM even with the hack. But the 550 only supports 36MB RAM, so the 128MB card you installed is probably incompatible.
