He wasn't kitting about the growling thing, bearings in the hard drive are causing the noise. Thankfully I had a spare drive and it's installing Leopard nicely. All my tiger disks are missing in action for some reason...
Oh well, this will make a nice addition to my portable life. When I need to edit with iMovie, it'll be there, as well as ProPresenter.

It's a 1.07GHz G4 w/ 768MB of ram, extra 512MB added by me last summer for him, and a 100GB drive. Hope it serves a while.
