Macintosh Classic Speakers issue.
Ok so I got my Mac Classic today and everything works on it (thank gosh) except for the speakers. You can barely hear them but you'd have to cram your head in the screen to hear it. I checked the volume in the sound settings and they are cranked up. Any help?
bad caps can cause audio problems, course so could a blown in a perfect way speaker
Is there ANY other way to get it to work than replacing the caps?
Not using the internal speakers, no. You could always use some powered speakers from the 3.5" audio out jack.

Ok. Lets just say I got the sad mac + chimes of death. Would the chimes of death play over the external speakers?
Yes.
Don't think I've ever tried it, but I don't see why not.
Plug in a set of headphones to the Audio Out port. If you get good sound through the headphones, then you just have a bad speaker or speaker connection to the motherboard.

That's not unheard of.
So it might not have it or is there a way to fix it so there is a chime??
I did get a Chime of death via Earphones.
I was unable to. Even with head phones I never herd it.

Ok the system works fine with the external speakers, but it still refuses to sound the chimes of death. Could really caps be the cause for no chimes of death?
The Macintosh Classic, nor ANY 68000 Mac plays the Chimes of Death. Your Classic is functioning normally except for the bad cap that is preventing the internal amplifier from working.
You need to open it up and clean the logic board, preferably replacing the bad caps, before the leaking cap goo causes more problems.
Hmmm ok il check it out and post some pictures. And I have herd other peoples computers (SE/30s, classics, classic 2s) ply the chimes of death when the sad mac displays.
That's right. An SE/30 and Classic II are 68030 Macs. 68000 Compacts don't do the chimes of death.
The Classic is a glorified SE/FDHD. It uses the exact same ROM except for some modified code for the Classic's software screen brightness and the built-in ROM startup RAM disk. If you have heard a stock Classic make the chimes of death, then it is unknown to me. My Classic does not make it, though otherwise works perfectly. Most likely you have seen a Classic which has been upgraded to a Classic II.
