Thank you all for the replies. I'm a work now so I'll have to open it up later. The seller offered me a partial refund or to take it back entirely. You think I should hang onto it if it's the capacitors? Its in relatively decent shape, only minor case scuffing and whatnot.

Your chances of getting one that doesn't have bad capacitors isn't very good. So if you like it, and you either don't mind paying for a cap job, or can do it yourself, you would probably be best off keeping it. Even if you find one that works fine now, they all seem to need caps sooner or later.

However, there is some possibility that the problem is not the caps. You should bear that in mind when assessing the risks/benefits.
