Whenever I switch my Macintosh SE FDHD on or off, there is a static pip. Does anyone know why?
Might just be the CRT
Nope.Might just be the CRT
Most likely a bad cap that needs replaced in the sound circuitry. They notoriously fail. An SE of this age most likely needs a full cap job anyway. Notice any other static during normal operation?
It is only when switching it on or off. Also, the sound always works fine.
Remove the back housing, keep your eye the analog board in a dimly lit room, and flip the power switch. For truly, if you hear a "static" kind of sound, then you will likely see a spark somewhere inside when you flip that switch. And where you see the spark is the source of trouble.
