LC 475 power issues

LC 475 power issues Hardware 5 posts Mar 11, 2010 — Mar 11, 2010
My newest conquested LC 475 displays some strange problems. It refuses to power up, but with different working power supplies (one from my LC III, which works fine, and one from my LC II, which needs new caps but works great otherwise) it refuses to power up at all, just the (working) PSU clicking in all three cases.

Am I right to assume the motherboard's toast?

Thanks!

no not fully, yes its toast to joe user, it might be to you, to nerds it might be a interesting project to see what exactly is dead

usual suspects, caps, corrosion (and or junk on/under the board, a dead bug can screw something up)

If the PRAM battery is good, then yes you have an issue with the motherboard.

Did you try unplugging the floppy drive, the hard drive and the fan to see if it's caused by any of them?

Turns out it was a bad HD cable. Replaced it, and it works great. The coolest thing about this is that it's actually a LC II with the official Apple LC 475 upgrade!

Thanks everybody!
