Pismo DVD-ROM/CD-R/RW drive recognition problem
Does anyone know what the trick is to help a Pismo recognize a replacement (non-Apple-original) drive for burning? My latest Pismo, a 500mhz. running 10.4.11, seems to recognize the drive to play a disk (a Panasonic UJDA-740) but not as an available burner. Does the firmware need to be updated somehow? This drive is recognized fully by my 400mhz. Pismos...
Go to the website http://www.patchburn.de and they have the needed software to "patch" the drive to be recognized under Mac OSX.

I have the same problem when I installed a non Apple combo drive. It is recognized as a Panasonic DVD-ROM but it states Quanta DVD/CDRW on the label. Patchburn did not work for me. Are there any other options?
Get a copy of Toast and see if that uses the drive correctly.
Thanks...I think PatchBurn is going to do it...drive seems to be burning properly now...
No problem.
