Halfway through the clone process, my Sawtooth kernel panics. :O

Well tonight I am going to tear down the iBook.

I will be replacing it's CD-ROM with a DVD/CD-RW drive pulled from my dead 600MHz iBook. I will also be replacing the keyboard which is missing keys with the one from the 600MHz model. As well as replacing the upper casing because the newer keyboard won't mate with the older upper case due to the newer upper case having a notch on the lower right corner of the keyboard area which is required by the newer keyboard.

I have plugged in the newer keyboard and it works just fine.

Man I was hoping to avoid this, but alas, it is not to be.

If I can locate my soldering iron, then I will repair the trackpad connector while i'm performing the surgery.
