Mac IIfx - SCSI

Mac IIfx - SCSI Peripherals 2 posts May 13, 2010 — May 13, 2010
Hi all -

I've just picked up a Mac IIfx - which I am very pleased with. I will have a number of "newbie" type questions over the next few weeks - just as a word of warning!

With respect to SCSI. The machine currently has an Apple SCSI hardrive - an ST2209N (94221-209). I'd like to use some more modern higher capacity drives, such as the Fujitsu Model MAU3147NP.

I was wondering if this would be possible, should I have the appropriate SCSI converter, and if not, what SCSI drives other IIfx users have tried.

thanks in advance

Simon

Congrats on the IIfx; they're great old machines. I've had mine for 20 years and it's still going strong.

As for SCSI HD's, virtually any 50 pin drive should work straight out of the box. The 68 and 80 pin drives may well work with suitable adapters, I've never tried one in the IIfx. Depending on the drive you may or may not need the special IIfx terminator so safest to just use it at the end of the chain. As far as I know you will be limited to a max of 2 GB/partition with any OS that works on the IIfx.
