I'm glad to see a 5300 up and running. It is my favorite of all the powerbooks.
To save on weight, power and battery stress, and have a long life - I'd advise you get a couple 4GB CF Cards, 1 CF to PCMCIA adapter and 1 CF to laptop IDE Adapter and use the CF as a hard drive; the CF in the PCMCIA Adapter can be used a a back up drive.
