Mac IIx won't stay on !
I have just cleaned up a Mac IIx, installed two batteries and it booted up like a doll !
I did a number of Resets (no cold starts) installed a couple of apps from the external SCSI CDRom.
However, when I attempted a cold start, the Mac does not stay on. It just wizes up for a sec and then powers down.
As I workaround I noticed if you keep the power on button on keyboard depressed it starts up (stays on) indefinitely.
Any ideas ?

First, check the power cable. If it's loose, your problem is solved.
If not, this sounds like a power supply issue. I've had the same problem on a IIci (uses a different power supply but similar in concept with the soft switch). On the IIcx/IIci, it's possible to fix this issue with a little tinkering, but the II/IIx/IIfx would require something different. If you can pick up another PSU, I'd try that to rule out a logic board issue.
