I have a dual core 2 x 2.3GHz G5 with the stock nvidia 6600 (256MB) that works fine. I don't do any gaming at all but a friend sold me a ATI Radeon X1900 that only works on dual core machines like mine. The short story is that that card or the ATI software gave me several kernels panic per day
That ATI card worked flawlessly on a Quad G5. Nowadays I am happy with the stock nvidia 6600. Both cards were driving a 30" Apple Cinema Display.
