I would have paid that. I'm back into gathering Apple items that soon enough very few people will still own.

The OS 3.01 CD looked to be the standalone version and the update CD was from the WGS95, no boot disk included.

A while back somebody sold 11 A/UX binders for $200 or so (no software).

Seems like this stuff is getting expensive.

Definitely a standalone from what I can tell.

If anything will become expensive, it will be software. It's getting tougher and tougher to track down vintage Mac software on eBay, Amazon, and the other sites. (I may be partially to blame for that, as I tend to snap that sort of stuff up–I'm the guy who has four complete boxed Word 5.1s). Software usually got chucked instead of donated, as hardware did. I don't see hardware jumping too much in price soon (especially with low demand–remember how I snagged that mint PB190 not long ago and was the only bidder on a low-priced auction?), but there's definitely a scarcity factor involved nowadays. Last time I looked on eBay there were no LC 500 series, only a few Duos, very few modular Macs, and no PB150s. I think a lot of what we will get as collectors will now be relegated to collector-to-collector transactions, sort of like we have with old coins. When was the last time you got a Mercury dime in change?

No CD, just the sleeve.

Copeland was never released so maybe they never pressed the CD?

A/UX has been rare a long time, I guess nobody has found a store room at Apple full of A/UX items yet!

I'd be surprised if Apple even has a store room full of A/UX stuff. In fact I'd be surprised if there'd be many people there who would still know what A/UX is.

I bought the sleeve. The seller was local, met him to pick up the sleeve and chat about his experiences on the Copland project. He confirmed the sleeve was printed in anticipation of the project advancing to the state where it could be pressed to disc, but it never happened... so, the sleeve is about the sum total of all the physical remains of Copland, minus some leaked betas nobody can seem to get working. Still I think this is more than Taligent achieved.

Ah nice. I considered it, but didn't bid. Nice to know where it went.

Did you learn anything interesting about the project? IIRC they were planning to release the "Compatibility Edition" as DR1, but realised after the sleeves had been printed that it wasn't going to be ready. D11E4 calls itself the Compatibility Edition, so perhaps this would have been been on the CDs if it had managed to stay running long enough to be usable.

No, the chat was brief as the seller had some prior obligations. I left it open ended as it sounded like there would be more closet cleaning to come. Hopefully I'll get to chat some more later.
