If it has any vertical lines in the screen it can have the LCD replaced for free, even if it is out of warranty. I got one for $20, with ~150 lines in the screen, and I called Apple customer care, and they told me to take it to the Apple store near me. The Apple store took one look at it and said they would repair it for free. I got it back 2 weeks later with a new screen and logic board. This was only about a month or two ago, and I sold it a week ago for $350. Look on the Apple Support Forums, it is very common for these iMacs to develop lines in the screen, and Apple has been replacing them for free.
