Font Smoothing on System 7?

68kMLA OS 8 7 posts Dec 12, 2010 to Nov 4, 2012
Does anyone know of an extension or control panel that will smooth the screen fonts of system 7, much like the way Mac OS 8 smooths fonts?

Thanks a lot.

It's really nice looking, especially in subpixel rendering mode, but wow does it drag the system down even in 2-bit mode. I tried it in Classilla and font rendering looks just super, but it drags moving around on a page (and Classilla was never very fast at scrolling to start with).

Still, even on System 7, the look is wonderful.

I've tried sub-pixel rendering and didn't like it. For some reason I prefer OS 9's grayscale anti-aliasing, even over Ubuntu 10.04's. LCD is locked onto the signal properly too in all cases, with 1:1 pixel mapping.

Bit of a necro here, but I attempted to download this from the developer site and it turned out to be a corrupt file. I am downloading it on a Win7 machine onto a CF card then working sneaker net to my machine so that might be the cause of the problem... Does anyone have any input on that issue?
