Where did everyone find their copy of 7.6.1?
It's the only version of Mac OS that I don't have around, and yet everyone else seems to have it. Is there some spot on the internet I missed? Or perhaps an eBay store?
I think he's after a full installer...these days, eBay or the Trading Post (or perhaps if you're lucky, Freecycle or Craigslist if you have one in your area) might be the way to go.
As for me - I got my copy back in 1997 with my new PowerBook 1400.

I got mine with my Spartacus
I got mine in a box of free crap I got with my IIfx
Think I got mine from a 7500 I purchased from ebay that was pickup only (and quite a few original OS CDs along with it). Worth the 25 minute drive one way thats for sure.
7.6.1 on CD
- first installed 7.6
- (for systems that not supports 7.6) immediately followed by the install of 7.6.1
- on a 20th anniversary macintosh, install extra's
(mac os 7.6.1 CD of the 20th anniversary macintosh)
7.6.1 as update
PowerBook 3400 computers :
There are two versions of the Mac OS 7.6.1 Update:
- one for the PowerBook 3400
- one for all other computers supported by Mac OS 7.6.

I prefer retail CDs but have a few OEM as well.
Found mine in a Quadra 800's CD-ROM tray that I bought from a booth at the Raleigh Flea Market Mall that was once property of SAS.
I got mine from eBay. It's the CD version.
eBay, CD.
CD from a nice guy over at system7today.com's forum.
Update to 7.6.1 from Apple's site IIRC.

I still haven't found one.
If anyone wants one, I have a spare CD of 7.6, and the 7.6.1 update is available as a free download from system7today or Apple. PM if interested.
It turns out i DO have 7.6! I was rummaging through the hard drive of my 1400c and found the install floppy images for it.
I think I got 7.6 on a Power Computing CD and 7.6.1 on another Power Computing CD for a later model.
I got mine back in 1997, both with a machine new, and as a separate CD.
On ebay, shrink-wrapped. I bought 2 copies to be safe.
I found 7.6.1 on my SuperMac System Software CD that was packaged with my C500. Incredibly, years later I used it to install 7.6.1 on my PowerBook520c!
Macdomains FTP and burnt it myself
Man, I haven't been there in a while. What's it like nowadays? I think the last time I went was in 2006.Found mine in a Quadra 800's CD-ROM tray that I bought from a booth at the Raleigh Flea Market Mall that was once property of SAS.
I got mine not as media but as a file describing a very large number, and it was labeled "Mac OS 7.6.1.iso"
Installs fine on my LC475 and in Basilisk II.
