. . . I guess that's what it should be called. :b&w:

First off, my favorite VidCard: Radius PrecisionColorPro:

They OEMd this card for Apple also.

more to follow . . . eventually! :o)

That would be 3000% faster than what machine, do you suppose? I have one of these, but it doesn't seem THAT much faster than anything Mac II-ish, at least.

It's wonderful to see these, by the way. In a move some ten years ago, I made a decision in desparation — in order to get through the packing ordeal — to throw out all my old magazines from the early 90s, and I have always regretted it.

So keep the scans coming! Maybe pop them up in a Flickr set also??? It would be good for all this to be gathered together somewhere for posterity.

Agreed!

Mmmm, Quickdraw accelerator daughtercard .... mmmmm.

So, reading between the lines of the SuperMac and Radius adverts, the reference baseline for that 3000% in the Radius advert probably was a Mac II.

Great stuff.

Are those magazine advertisements or company product literature?

Anything not a MagAd was then/will be labeled "Brochure" for clarity's sake! ;)

Especially helpful back then were the approximately annual video card round ups the magazines would do. The ones in MacUser always seemed a little more useful and technical to me than the ones in MacWorld.

I too threw out almost all my old Mac magazines many years ago.

I had scanned some interesting advertisements and I think posted them back when we had a picture gallery here. I have quite a few late 80's to around 1996 Macworld/Macuser magazines. When you look at those advertisements it allmost makes you break out the pocketbook to buy the stuff.

MacUser was a FAR more useful magazine in terms of technology, MacWorld never came close, MacAddict did. If you wanted balanced coverage of the Mac/PC continuum, BYTE or PC Magazine (for the most part) were the places to go, IMHO.

I've kept the most useful of both MW & MU, including Monitor & Accelerator comparison tables, anybody interested in seeing those?

;D :o)

Yes, I think that was the point of them.

But they do make the old gear sort of delicious still, don't they? The nice thing about it for me is that I actually have a good deal of the stuff, whereas back then I could only drool over it.

Oh yes!

Another 'Yes' vote here. I found those video card comparisons amongst some of the most useful stuff the magazines produced.

OK, I've got the next couple of days off, I'll see what I can get up quickly. [;)] ]'>

Gotta save some hackin' time for the days the grlf is working though! :approve:
