It's the strangest thing...
I was installing 8.6 to my Powerbook via an Ethernet connection to my iMac's CD drive, as the powerbook's CD drive is broken. Unfortunately the install process had to be aborted at about %25.
reboot..., expecting to see 8.1, which was on it...., or a screwed install...
...and It's running 8.5. Huh.

Maybe the installer installs 8.5 then the 8.6 upgrade? And it failed at the upgrade part?
That, and the entire help system is absent.
Yeah, my memory is that the installer installs 8.5 first and then runs the 8.6 updater.
IIRC I think the 8.1 CD did the same thing: 8.0 install followed by 8.1.
