well that was wierd... week of sitting on my workbench the screen fixed itself... maybe is was weeks of sitting in the POs garage in sub zero temps that made it wacky...
still swapped screens as the other one is still a bit better (brighter backlight, smoother controls) also just swapped the entire top end as it turns out one had a better upper mouse button and no crack in the modem area...
Discovered another anomaly though. one PB needs the battery and power supply to function, while the other will run off the battery, power supply or both. However that one doesn't fully shut off either. if you do 'shut down' it shuts down but the screen goes to white... and also will shut off (and go to white) if I push down on the right side palm rest. hoping that's just the SCSI cable sitting loose?
in any case I've got two mostly working 180s and a working OE Apple battery(and a battery conditioner/charger too)! sweet going to keep one around as a parts machine. now I just need to get RAM, hopefully a SCSI to CF converter, maybe a video out dongle and a case to hold it all in. (already own an Asanté mini EN/SC)
