JAZ Bezel for a Powermac 7x00 series ??? Peripherals 10 posts Mar 10, 2011 — Mar 16, 2011
Looking for one...What are the chances I can find such a thing?

I am pretty sure a 3rd party made those bezels and should be the same as the zip drive ones since they pretty much have a cutout for the complete 3.5" drive (would work with a 3.5" MO as well). I might even have one but would take a while to look.

The original blank bezel could also be modified, noting that the Jaz faceplate can be removed for sizing up, a hole cut in the bezel, and the unit can be slid in - would come out looking stock.

A jaz cart is much thicker then a zip one so the opening would have to be made bigger, which would force you to move the jaz drive closer to the hole (custom bracket) and then you have issues with the power and SCSI cable being long enough.

What varieties did these bezels come in?

The ones I have seen are:

Blank

ZIP

Tape backup (which might be the best bet for JAZ, although I don't know how well it would line up.)

That's also all I've seen (I also have all three).

Ok I found the bezel. it was made by Proline part number Z7235 and came with a metal bracket that would line up the Jaz or other 3.5" removable drive with the bezel opening. I am pretty sure you need that bracket if you find the bezel.

IIRC, Proline sold out all their remaining stock to one of the resellers, similar to WeLoveMacs or some such. I think it is the one that used to be Kelly Computers. But that's all from very unreliable memories.

I got a couple kits during prolines going out of business sale when they were cheap.
