Which Apple keyboard do you prefer? Peripherals 21 posts Apr 3, 2011 — Apr 24, 2011
I prefer the Apple Keyboard II due to it's small size and great keys. :beige:

This was done last year and most people went for the Extended or the one that came with the IIgs. I'm at odds with most and prefer the same one that you do.

Why exclude the Apple Extended Keyboard II (M3501)? Several folks on here, myself included, think it's the best ever.

I love the new one (chicklet keys).

The best apple keyboard for me is the apple extended keyboard M3501. Recently i bought one for my mac performa 6116.

I didn't mean to, I was making this poll at about 3 in the morning.

NOTE: If a mod reads this, could you add the Apple Extended Keyboard II to the poll, thanks.

Extended Keyboard II. All the way.

As nice as the extended keyboard (either I or II) feels, I do have one gripe about it--the size. The original Apple ADB keyboard is a pretty well-kept secret--it has the same great feel as the extended keyboard but doesn't take up as much room. Count me in as a vote for the small keyboard. I do like the IIGS keyboard as well. Apple's current keyboards aren't bad either.

3501 all the way. Everything else is just something else you use instead.

A9M0330 - Apple IIGS keyboard - for 'small workspace' vintage computing use.

M1242 - Apple Adjustable keyboard (with extension) - for 'sufficient workspace' vintage computing use.

A1255/A1314 - 'compact' Bluetooth keyboard - for modern computing use.

I bought an iMate today so I could use the Apple Extended Keyboard II with my MacBook, i think it will feel 10x better, plus I love the sound

Do you realy want a small puny keyboard in front of a massive strong Mac II/IIx/IIfx?

Extended II.

YES! I love small keyboards. The IIgs keyboard is the best one for most uses to me.

You forgot the one that splits in 2 which is my fave but otherwise its the M0116 for me.

Where's the TAM keyboard, M3459? Come on, what sort of poll is this?

JOKING! Apply Keyboard II FTW.

I also like the AppleDesign Keyboard as well.

Might as well throw in a mention for the Apple Pro Keyboard which is one of the better dome keyboards in my opinion.

Extended II!!!

I still use mine daily with my MacBook Pro at home through an ADB-USB adapter (kind of a generic iMate hub-style). I just love its sound! But for actual typing, my all-time favorite is the PowerBook 1400 keyboard.

Extended II. Durable mechanical keyswitches, excellent tactile feedback, washable (dry thoroughly before next use ;-)

The height adjusting slider actually works, if the plastic mechanics get some appropriate lubricant (like a small amount of washing-up liquid, preferably spread onto the disassembled slider with a brush).

Btw: did anyone successfully transplant the controller of a recent USB keyboard into an Apple Extended keyboard II ? Thus you would not have to work around missing keys like with ADB-Keyboard + Griffin iMate.

I love the Apple Pro Keyboard M7803. Its been my choice since about 2005 when it took the place of my B&W USB keyboard.
