How 2 uninstall TIGER

I installed TIGER on my iMac ( 500MHz ) and what a mistake because it is slower then slow when running in Tiger, especially web browsing xx( .

How do i remove TIGER without reformatting/erasing and installing OS 9 ?

The highest you should run on an iMac 500MHz is most likely 10.2.8.

You can simply drag all OS X stuff to the Trash and empty it. As far as I am aware, there is no Uninstall feature like before OS X.

I would say the same... boot to OS 9, trash everything X and be done with it.

Or are we missing something here?

I do have Tiger on my iMac and while not exactly snappy, it runs pretty good. 500mhz, 512mb RAM, 80gb HD. Maybe you're short on RAM?

I use Safari 3 for web browsing, anything newer (Safari 4, Firefox 3) feels too sluggish.

Thankyou for the "how to" info. That sure is simple.

Here's the bla bla story: indeed, it is the dmmmmmm RAM: purchased this "legacy" Mac for OS 9 use but then tried the OS X install and now not prepared to buy more RAM ( unless i find some for less then ten bucks a stick ) because the RAM it has is ample for my OS 9 use.

I had 384MB for a long time before I upgraded to 512MB and felt a good boost in speed. That was with 10.2.8.

I had the last version of Firefox 2 on it (2.0.0.20 IIRC) and still have the archive for it if you need it. YouTube won't run, as it requires Flash Player 10, which requires Firefox 3, which requires 10.4.

640MB runs fine on my 10.4.0 iBook. (It's the max anyways)

OK, time to hunt down a wee bit more RAM. Recommendations for commercial sellers ? Not EBay ! because i had a very bad experience using them and never again.

Try local ad sites first. You don't have to worry about shipping costs, and you can see the product firsthand.

How much do you want? Someone here or on Low End Mac swaplist should have them for cheap. Know the specs -- I believe the 2nd gen iMacs are PC100 or 133 RAM DIMMs.

Thanks for the heads up.

I will have to go look at the manual and also the said iMac to ascertain the RAM details: as to what's installed now and what is the max RAM. If i remember correctly i would have to swap rather then simple add to what's there.
