I got a SE/30 for 10 euros 3 weeks ago. It's working and has its keyboard and mouse.
The keyboard doesn't work perfectly. Some keys don't work at all, but I started mending a few switches with just paper. So that's ok.
And the Sony 40Mb hard drive is probably dead: It spins ok, the activity led works but you can't hear the head. It tries to boot endlessly. I don't know if I should ditch it and get an SCSI2SD.
But those things aren't my immediate problem. The bezel is quite damaged. A lot.
Here are pictures showing how ruined it is:
The right corner can't be fixed I'm afraid. And on the left corner, it seems that someone tried to attack it with a knife. You can't see it that much though.
Then there's the badge itself:
the previous owner tried to clean it obviously but did more harm than good. The ink from the badge came off and as a result the whole facia got covered in ink. It took me 2 full days of washing up to get rid of the stains. But now the badge is even worse. I took the pic before I cleared the stains and now it's nearly gone (it's half as black as it is on the pic)
What do you think? Should I buy a new bezel? But I don't want to spend too much on this machine as i want to sell it.
I saved it from trash and I want it to find a new loving family by Christmas.
