Powerbook 165
Hi,
Just scored today a complete PWB 165 (including Targus carrying bag, and battery case) all for the total amount of 5 € (around 7 $)
In working order (System 7.1) but with a faulty screen (contrast trouble) not a big deal.
This is a car boot / trunck sale, hence the price.
As a bonus, found in the case, a wireless Belkin F5d6020f card

change the caps in the display
TK, how many and what type of cap? I've got a 140 with the same problem and would love to get it back up again.
ive got another thread on it in the powerbook forum, let me dig it up and get you the values. (dont have a screen in front of me, fixed both of them)
Caps in the display or inverter board ?change the caps in the display
I removed the inverter board yesterday, clean it a bit and used a soldering iron to re flow some welds.
Now is far better, i have a better display, but after 15 minutes i have got a very white screen with few contrast.
