Reset the PRAM and update the firmware. IIRC there is an update to the firmware of some kind.

The RAM issue could also be with poor quality RAM. If not correct, the RAM is often halved (64MB is a 32MB) or not read at all (not seeing the 256MB). If PRAM or firmware update does nothing, try different PC66 stick of RAM (some PC100 will work).
