I have had some success in formatting my CF card and installing a OS.
No matter what utility I use to format it, the disk tools disk for 7.5.3 will not see the disk. So I decided to see if I could install a newer OS. I have a copy of 7.6 here. I formatted the 4GB CF card for 1 partition 4GBs large. I tried 7.5.3 and it would not work. The HD format tool in the disk tools floppy for 7.5.3 could not see the SCSI drive. When I ran Disk First Aid from the same floppy, it sees the 4GB SCSI drive and when I ran verify or repair it said nothing was wrong with it. This is driving me nuts.
So then tried to installed 7.6. It was a clean install, no errors.
Everything is working fine now. But I still have an issue. I prefer OS 7.1 to maybe 7.5.5. OS 7.6 is just to modern to me. I am not a big fan of 7.6. If it gives me better Internet access or something I can go with it, but I would rather run a older OS.
Could it be that when I am formatting the CF card, I am using a more modern format that can not be read by 7.5.3? If so, how can I get around this?
Any thoughts?
Thanks for the help everyone.
