PB1400 Random Freezes

I've noticed that jostling or shaking my PB1400 will cause an intermittent system freeze (as in total freeze - even the cursor). My first suspect would be the soldering work on the new oscillator I just installed, but is there anything else that might cause these problems?

FYI: I have not recently (or at all) dropped my PB.

Check the RAM stack too. I had a 60MB 1400 that did that. Turned out the RAM cards were a wee bit loose and caused intermittent faults.

That sounds more likely - those oscillator chips are pretty well sheltered too.

Upon one semi-successful bootup, I was greeted with a "Sorry, system error occurred" error with "illegal instruction" as the listed reason.

The plot thickens...

Is it the original Hard Drive? If so, perhaps it is the first indicators of a dying drive.

No, I replaced it with a CF card a long time ago....

Did a test just now: Removed ALL memory cards (Apple Dealer 8MB and two 24MB Modules), booted it to my password prompt, and subsequently shook it immensely, expecting the cursor to seize up at some point. It didn't. But then I entered my PWD and was presented with this:

Did a reflow on my oscillator solder word, although beforehand it still looked pretty solid. Now it should not be a concern.

Apparently the Sad Mac I'm getting indicates a bad System file. Time to break out the boot disks...

0000000F indicates a software issue. What happens if you try booting from another disc?
