Truble opening classic aplication already opened in Windows

Hi,

Im not quite sure how to solve this.

When I download Classic mac aplication on my windows computer and unpack it, or sometimes I dont even need to do that, it becomes unable to run in Classic.

Now Im running Sheepshaver since Im in school and all the old macs are left back at home.

How do you guys cope with this trouble?

It is losing its resource fork. I do not know how to fix this. I fixed it by not using windows to download software.

If you have an Ethernet ready mac, you can use windows internet sharing and download from the mac.

You mentioned unpacking. From what format are you unpacking the program from? If you are downloading .bin .sit .hqx files, you should leave them that way and unpack them in SheepShaver or on the Mac. These files have the resource forks encoded and will be lost if unpacked on Windows.

If Stuffit is not recognizing the formats, then there may be something not set up properly in the PC Exchange/File Exchange control panel. Dragging and Dropping the files onto Stuffit Expander should work anyway. Can you give more detail on the problem?

I have a zip archive with Toast 5.2. When I extract it in Os9, it doesnt work in Os 9. Thats it, is there a way to repair the resource for or what should I do?

I learned not to open the stuff for Classic in Windows and keep it zip-ed. Sometimes wven ziping it back again helped I think.

What do you guys do?

Sadly, the ZIP file format does not preserve resource forks. Is this your own copy of Toast you zipped? or is it a copy you got elsewhere? If you got it from elsewhere, it might very well be a disk image or ISO within a zip.
