Classilla 9.2.3

Classilla 9.2.3 is released, after a long (and partially unexpected) hiatus.Like 9.2.2, this is a bugfix release, but there are several important fixes.

Chief amongst them is a mitigation for recurrent crashes with certain

JavaScript DOM manipulations. This should significantly improve the stability

of the browser at the cost of some additional memory usage during complex

layouts.

This version also blacklists DigiNotar certificates to protect the user, and

has fresh SSL roots. It has also been audited for the Rizzo-Duong SSL attack.

Finally, there is a performance adjustment to use a faster method of time

computation. This code is run very frequently in the browser, so this should

make overall operation more smooth.

There are some other miscellaneous fixes. You can get it, as always, from

Starting in 9.3.0, we will start the transformation towards encouraging

mobile content. More about that soon.

Thanks, working with it right now. It runs most fora and sites i like.One thing that bugs me is that it is much slower thenTenforFoux on the same system.

Example forums like sega-16.com or bordersdown.net .

Layout is comparatively badly optimized; a lot of the shortcuts that are now used today, including lazy instantiation, are not amenable to this older code base. The processor-specific optimizations will help somewhat, but it will never be as fast. That said, it is still significantly faster than WaMCom, so I think overall it is an improvement.

Well Ihaven't used Wacomm since 2004 so I really can't comment on the speed difference, I know that back then I prefered IE. Anyway I'm only using Classila on my cube.I'm doing a little restauration project on it. Trying to make it original as we got it in 2002. With Mac OS 9.1 from the original install disks.

Just wanted to say that I got my iLamp restored to its original OS state, and Classilla rocks on it! More usable than anything on 10.3 is, faster than even TenFourFox on it. (I have one partition with the original 9.2/10.1 image, plus one partition of each later OS X it can run.)

I must say, it is extremely odd having a Netscape Navigator 4-looking browser with tabs, though...

Thanks! I'm slowly working on 9.3.0. The big change will be the networking stack overhaul but that's not going so well. OpenTransport is a b*tch.

I assume pre-OS 8.5 support is still a pie-in-the-sky long term ideal, nothing coming soon?
