Strange thing I found out in the rain..

It may be worth unscrewing the case to let it dry thoroughly, and leave it for a few days, somewhere warm. On top of the fridge at the back is good.

It's a Hayes-compatible, 1200 baud modem, from the mid-1980s. It will work with an Apple II or a Macintosh.

It powers up, pushing the buttons makes the lights do stuff. I'll plug it into my SE as soon as I find an appropriate cable (I'm POSITIVE I have one somewhere). Anyone know where I might find a driver for it? I'm running 7.0.1.

It's a modem. It doesn't use a "driver". You just access it as a serial device, and issue it commands via serial connection.

Example: PPP software would issue all the commands automatically, you just tell it the phone number, and it handles all the commands.

Example: Terminal software would just open a straight terminal connection, and you'd enter "ATDT 8005551212" (for example) to dial a phone number to make the terminal connection (in this case, to the phone number 800-555-1212, obviously you'd replace it with the number of the system you are connecting to.) Once the modem makes its connection, you'd have your terminal connection to the remote machine.

You might need a modem script, though. The commands for setting the handshaking and stuff weren't the same for all modems.

Wow. I have never seen that style of enclosure on an Apple Product.

I agree the enclosure is a strange one, I'm getting a DSLR from college tomorrow so expect some much better pics of the case/inside. Stranger thing is the CRAZY amount of rfi it emits 8-o
