Classic, Performa PowerPC 9 posts Nov 15, 2011 — Nov 20, 2011
Saved these from being trashed. Macintosh Classic 4Mb, 40Mb, OS 7 works fine. Performa 6400/180 88Mb. These are my first "vintage" Macs :) So far the oldest have been iMac G3 years ago. Now trying to get some old games to Classic and PCI ethernet card to Performa. Luckily the Performa came with VGA-adapter so i was able to attach it to LCD display.

Congrats!

Well liberated, comrade!

The x4xx/x5xx machines are really really fast. My Power Mac 5500 felt faster than my stock 9500! (That changed when I upgraded the 9500 a ton)

I always liked the 6xxx tower form factor.

With the built in subwoofer. Nice find with the matching monitor. I wish I kept mine but it left in the Great Purge. :(

Strangely difficult to update OS 9.0.4 from the CD. Just wont boot nor, upgrade from the desktop. Neither had luck with 3com ethernet-card (yet). Maybe just in a beginning of learning curve

Suggestions of specific brand, type and model of PCI ethernet card wich would work the the Performa?

If you can find a low-end 10/100 card based on the Realtek 8139 series, the Mac drivers are here.

Is there a specific reason that you want a PCI card as opposed to a CommSlot 2 card?

Thank you. No any other reason than i thought PCI cards would be more common?
