G5 Kernel Panic problems

The machine in question is a late 2005 2.3GHz Dual core G5 with 6GB of Ram.

It keeps doing random KP's after varying intervals of operation. It doesn't always give me a report but when it does it's things like "Empty mapping block" or "Unresolved Kernel Trap 0x400 Inst Access".

I've rearranged Ram to no avail and have run ASD 2.6.3 multiple times, but ASD never detects an error. I have another logic board and CPU module spotted but an not ready to shell out cash without some positive indication of where the problem lies.

Thoughts and/or suggestions?

This sounds like logic board. It's not overheating or anything else, is it? What are the front lights doing? Is the red light on continuously, or when it panicks, does the light come on?

It does not appear to be a heat issue; temp monitor and iStat both show that the CPU temp almost never goes above 130 degrees F. The internal red LED's don't always come on after a KP but when they do it's 1 or 2 as I recall. The only info I have about that from Apple docs says "Contact a service provider".

I talked to the service dept at the local Apple reseller and was told that KP's can be caused by HD problems, OS problems, etc. I've loaded a fresh copy of 10.4.11 on a different HD and will run from that and see what happens.
