Glad to help! Regarding the battery, you know you can make one with AA batteries and a diode:



This is a picture of my motherboard from some random machine that was in the trash which I adapted to run in a Quadra 630 case (which had no motherboard). You can see the 3.3 volt regulator's heat sink under the batteries.
