Yes, the si's are fun to play with.

Easy to work at (no tools required, everything is hold together with clips) and you can overclock it !!

To bad having no HD with it.

It's great that you got the PDS Adapter with a NIC installed, hopefully it's the Asante model with the removable ThickNet passthru section.

Make sure you get some $5.00 Pivot Cards to avoid using the Vampire Video subsystem. They'll act as PDS Adapters for the other four as well!

i had talked to the guy before hand, he let me know what actual shipping would be .. so i figured it would work out.

NAH! I'm trying to stay the course regarding my toy budget (it's not working out well at all, BTW : ) and I've got a IIsi, several spare SCSI Drives, two spare NICs and I rescued a mint empty case listed as "perfect for a PC conversion."

So, naturally, it's now the SuperIIsi™ enclosure and the original case is being considered for some kind of hack. [)] ]'&gt

That'd actually make a nice hack. Add the LCmonoFeets to the front to raise an LCtopper or Portrait Monitor to a more ergonomically correct height and a better, jauntier angle. }

Yep, I was watching that auction too, and watched it all the way to the end (when I guess you won it), but in the end I decided they'd take up too much of my available space. I think I do want to get a IIsi at some point, since it has a unique case. Deep dish pizza box.

They came packed well! All pram batteries are dead, But none leeking, My custom 6.0.7 PowerBook 140/170 disk boots up , I was pretty happy, these are much faster the the LC!

The one with the riser/fpu/nic, also was the only machine out of the 5 to have a ROM simm installed,

one of the other macs wasn't booting, so i pulled the ROM simm out of this one, and installed it into the one that wasn't booting

now all 5 boot and work, i just wonder if that rom simm was installed into the one with the riser for a reason,

i dunno, maybe i should do some more testing maybe the fpu or nic doesn't work with out that rom,

That's a great haul, I kinda want to get a II series machine now (maybe a IIci or a IIsi) and mess with some PDS cards. :ii:

I am glad I am not the only one who plays sovietized tetris for Mac OS from Spectrum Holobyte.

IIsi are nice machines...if a bit limited. I agree its exactly like an obese LC but thats a good thing.

Overclock it and you will get performance roughly = to a IIci with L2 Cache.

I like the internal layout of these..well designed for cooling, component layout, etc.

If you have the resources and the ambition you can put two PDS cards into the IIsi at once.

All this and a 25mhz modified board too (not my mod, just got lucky to find one).

I have a PDS-based SuperMac 8-24 PDQ card (which I think is just a Nubus card hack) with it's PDS riser, a 68882 FPU, and an Asante PDS ethernet card.

There is just enough space to mount an AUI 15-pin connector (with 10 Base-T converter) along with the video connector in the single slot opening.

I have got a pair of SI's, none of them have a Rom simm.

One also has a fpu riser and no Rom simm is required.

Those Rom simms are really sough-after (for SE/30 mainly, to get a Clean Rom unit) as far as i know, only the early models used the Rom simm (later ones were integrated to the logic board, but all have the socket anyway... mines are just empty)

The rule is, if the unit has no Rom in the logic board, it will no boot without the proper Simm

The 25 Mhz hack is pretty easy to do, and cheap as well:

i did some testing, that riser card, FPU and NIC work great.

It was displaying yellow stripes across the screen and no tone, no boot, with this rom simm in, it works fine...

The Rom is missing from the logic board, but you can see soldering pads and label by the battery, so the Rom simm is mandatory here.

ah yes, i had to look at the picture again… the rom chips are missing from the board on that one … interesting...
