I do the rock back and forth removal... Usually I'll take a wire clipper and squeeze an SMD so you can rock it back and forth pretty good.. and eventually it will break off... Using a flat screwdriver or picking them off will pull up the solder pad...

Just rock the cap back and forth and it will break off... if one side breaks before the other DONT PULL (you'll lift the pad).. keep rocking as if one side was connected until it breaks..
