In the past I have found the double sided adhesive foam for sale at Radio Shack. It's held up as well as the original.

It's sold in one of those packages with a cardstock back, and rectilinear clear plastic front, which can hand on a pegboard. It comes in strips about 3" - 4" long.

I do not know if RS still stocks it.
