QuartzGL - speed up GUI rendering

QuartzGL
QuartzGL (called Quartz 2D Extreme when it was introduced in Mac OS X Tiger) is GPU acceleration for the Quartz 2D API. As of Mac OS X Snow Leopard, it is still not enabled by default. However, it has been possible to enable it, using the Quartz Debug application included in the Apple Developer Tools. QuartzGL will be disabled once again upon quitting the Quartz Debug utility. A workaround is to force quit the Quartz Debug application, which will leave QuartzGL enabled system-wide.

All graphics cards capable of supporting Core Image also support QuartzGL.

Has anyone tried this?

Yup. It is impressively unstable, at least on Tiger and the apps I use. Not recommended.

I tried it when Tiger was my main OS. Too unstable.. had 2 KPs in a row with it enabled.

i used to enable it with osx86tools, i stopped doing it because i didn't notice a difference. I've always used nvidia 8600gt or higher video card, i remember back in the day when the 8600gt was like 100 bucks, microcenter had some oem refurbished palit 8600 gt's in @49 bucks and i was buying them left and right, they worked very well! i used NVEnabler and NVKush at the time
