measuring device throughput on Mac OS 9.2.2
there must be a tool to do this - to read/write to disks and give you information on how it does?
I used DiskBasher 1.1 and also Speedometer 4.0, but the first one only gives the execution time (depends on settings!) and the latter an arbitrary reference index... On the other hand, HDT BenchTest gives accurate measurements on read/write throughput, seek & access times, transactions per second, etc. Not sure about its availability, though...
There is the great Intech QuickBench:

It´s part of the availaible "Hard Disk Speed Tools"

OWC has a incredible cheap offer for HDST and CD/DVD Speed tools ($ 35 instead of $110). That suit is absolutely great (formatting FireWire drives, using HDs greater than 128 GB with onboard IDE controllers ...)
