Recapping that board isn't a "if" or "should I?", it's a "do now". The fact that it is socketed makes it all the more imperative to protect the board from traces getting eaten up by capacitor goo.

If the PRAM battery is old, also replace it at once.

Recapping the board isn't hard, just difficult for beginners. Fortunately there are some resources to help you on this: 1) my signature; 2) cut the cap off this. If you are not a good solderist, use electrolytic replacements. Tantalum SMD caps are for pros. Another hot item is the Bourns network filter at RP2.

You should also get a bigger hard drive... :approve:
