little more cleaned up now, I'll have to get a picture soon. in any case I've gotten a second real lock up, I only saw the log the last time(no monitor) this time with the monitor hooked up I saw it was a kernel panic. both times it pointed to IOATA. I guess that 80gig I put in is on its way out than? *great*

so, I use externals for all the data this machine uses, internal is just a boot drive with 11GB on it good candidate for a CompactFlash drive set up? Relatively speedy 16GB card? (sandisk 30MB/s should outdo the old 80GB 4200RPM that's in there, thing has to be 6+ years old)
