Yep. I have six or seven 6100 and 7100 boards with that exact problem. They came to me like that. I've played around with soldering in a replacement PPC601, with little success.
A couple of the problems are that I got the replacements from PM7500 cards and there is a dab of hot glue behind the CPU. So even if the pins are desoldered, one must still melt the hot glue, and its hard to clean the hot glue off the back of the chip without bending any pins.
Then, once that is solved, the PPC601/100 which is on the PM7500 CPU card uses 3.3V and the 6100/7100 supplies 5V. This is easy enough to change, because the voltage regulator on the logic board is adjustable, but it's another thing.
Then, of course, there are the 304 tiny tiny pins....
